Pistachio Ice Cream + Hot Fudge (Hold the Sardines, please).

pistachio1 Lately, ever since Hulu uploaded I Love Lucy into their queue, I have been watching it non-stop. When I was a little girl, I always watched it with my mom, but as an adult, I enjoy it even more, because now I know what's going on— and, can I just talk about how much Lucy is like my spirit animal? Flighty. Check. Forgetful. Check. Bad with budgeting money. Check. Bad with budgeting time. Check. Always getting in trouble with my boyfriend. Check.

But seriously, each episode I watch, I can't help but think how modern Lucy was, and how women everywhere can still relate to her, even though we aren't housewives from the 50s. Plus, the show was so damn funny, Christopher even watches it with me now, and we sit up all night laughing at the craziness unfolding onscreen.

Late in Season 2, Lucy is pregnant! It's cute watching her waddle around the set, and using her pregnancy as comic relief in some cases. Some episodes Ricky brings Lucy odd things that she's craving, like a papaya milkshake and pickles, or in last night's episode, where Ricky begins to experience labor pains of his own, he makes a 4am run for Pistachio ice cream with hot fudge... and sardines. She had me until the sardines, and worse, she chows on it like it's nothing! I'm all for salty/sweet things together, but, this was just bad. Watch the scene below, skip to the 1:02 mark!

Anyway, I've never had pistachio ice cream before (WHAT! I know.), so I thought I'd try it tonight, since I was craving ice cream anyway, this idea saved me a lot of time picking out a flavor in the grocery store. We already had some Hershey's Chocolate sauce in the fridge, so I popped it in the microwave for a bit to warm it up, and voilà! My pre-dinner dessert, inspired by Lucy's crazy cravings. Not too bad of a treat, I must say!

Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm going to veg out in front of the tv, I have more episodes of my biopic I Love Lucy to watch!
