From clear to pitch black, I've got many shades of nail polish that I've collected over the years. In the Fall, I like to go with dark (nearly black) colors, burgundy, and sometimes, something jewel toned. I went through my collection, and found five shades that I think are perfect for the Fall season!
First up, Velvet Bow by China Glaze, a deep burgundy creme. One of my favorite polishes, ever. It is vampy, yet sophisticated. A perfect shade for when you want to do dark, but are still in need of some color! I think every girl should have a red this shade in her arsenal, it is classic, and quintessential for Autumn.
When I was looking for a flat navy blue last year, I stumbled onto Urban by Revlon. Usually, I would never go to Revlon for nail polishes, but this one caught my eye when I was walking through CVS one day. I have worn this color, maybe ten times already, and I can't get enough. Navy blue is just so chic! This polish doesn't have any reflective glitter or shimmer, so it's great for people (like me) who just want saturation, without the extra. Urban is another great alternative to black, just the right combination of drama and color.
Dark Room by Sephora by OPI is one of those colors I forget I have. Not that it's forgettable, by any means, but in the bottle, it doesn't scream "Wear me!", it's not until I put it on that I remember why I bought it, it's gorgeous! It's a wonderful shade of hunter green, with no shimmer or glitter. This color is so moody, and deep. It can definitely read as black depending on the light, but, it's one of those shades of polish that makes you want to stare at your nails all day.
Just A Little Dangerous by Sephora by OPI makes my nails look like beautiful jewels. It contains some purple shimmer which helps it to look faceted depending on the light, but otherwise, it reads as a deep purple. Purple, has been my favorite color since I was a child, it's always been so beautiful to me — but when it comes to purple nails, I'm really picky about what shades I'll buy. Purple nails can come off kind of whacky (not that that's a bad thing, but sometimes, you aren't going for an over-the-top look), so I look for shades that are on the more blue end of the spectrum.
Wagon Trail by China Glaze caught me by surprise. By now, as you've guessed, I like pretty flat nail polish, I do own a lot of glittery top coats, but I always refrain from using them, because it's such a pain to take off. While Wagon Trail isn't chocked full of glitter, it does have lots of shimmer which is another deterrent for me usually, but the finish on this greenish-black-brown-amber polish, I love! This polish reminds me of a mood ring, it's so multi-dimensional, but it doesn't scream for attention. This polish is as chic, and simultaneously, as pretty as it gets.
So, these are the colors I'll be rocking all season! What are some of your faves, I'd love to hear it! Leave me a comment, or send me a tweet @theglossier!
