There was a time, when I used to give my mother a hard time about wearing so much black. Her whole closet pretty much looked like a black hole, black shoes, black hosiery, black skirts, black pants, all black everything. There were times when I would buy her colorful tops for Mother's Day and her birthday just to see her in some color. I didn't understand the appeal then, but, now that I'm an adult, I get what her obsession with black was: it's awesome. In the back of my mind, I do debate with myself on wearing more colors, and patterns (and, for the most part, I do find myself incorporating those things somewhat), but when I look at what clothes I actually wear the most often, I'm clearly on the dark side.
There are days when it just feels appropriate, like today, where it's really overcast, and the trees are starting to look more bare, and it's chilly; there's an incredible type of mood that those elements create when you walk outside, or look out of the window. When I get dressed for the day, I am totally influenced by the type of vibe nature is giving off, sometimes, like today, it's bitchy, and moody.
Normally, I'm a stickler for blacks being the same tone, but I'm a total sucker for this faded band tshirt. I've had it for almost five years now, so, it's been washed more than a few times by this point in time. My boyfriend bought it for me in 2009, when we went to see No Doubt on their reunion tour. Paramore, and The Sounds were their opening acts. None of the other merchandise really called to me the way this shirt did, I loved the white and black design, and the v-neck. I actually ended up wearing this tshirt as a skirt during the concert, because I was originally wearing a pink micro mini, which was cute, but it was not made for dancing at concerts, so I put the tshirt on over top of my mini skirt, and go to rock out to Paramore, The Sounds, and No Doubt without any major wardrobe malfunctions. To this day, I still feel like this tshirt was the best $20 Christopher has ever spent on me; saying that I wear this shirt a lot, is an understatement.
