12 Years A Slave actress, Lupita Nyong'o, wowed everyone at last night's Golden Globe Awards, when she walked down the red carpet wearing this beautiful caped gown by Ralph Lauren. For one of her very first red carpet appearances at a major award show, she really shut it down. I couldn't get over how absolutely flawless she looked (I still am not over it), and it wasn't just the dress! She could be wearing a potato sack, and still be the most glowing, beautiful person in the room. I'm not going to be over this dress for a while, though. I love it! It reminds me of the white Tom Ford gown Gwenyth Paltrow wore to the Oscar Awards a couple years ago — that was minimalist perfection, much like this red version on Lupita. I really love seeing women in capes on the red carpet, it makes them look so powerful, and regal, and elegant. Kudos to her stylist for not overdoing the accessories on this look, too much jewelry would've taken away from the simplicity. And, really, she is so naturally stunning, that she really doesn't need jewelry at all.
There were a lot of other great looks at last night's award show, but, I really feel like Lupita carried herself the most confidently. Anyone can put on a great dress, but, if you aren't comfortable in it, then it's going to come across in your demeanor, and your dress will be wearing you, and not the other way around. So, from the wardrobe itself, to the way she gave this dress so much life, she absolutely nailed it.
