Several weeks ago, I had the chance to meet up with the ORS Nature's Secret Tour when it stopped in DC, at the beautiful Omni Shoreham Hotel, along with the Ubiquitous Hair Show. This was my first time ever going to a hair show, and while it was totally a lot of fun, it was also a little overwhelming! Luckily, I was able to bring along one of my best friends, Anastasia, and we navigated the madness together. On day one, we were able to visit almost all of the various booths, and vendors, before heading over to the ORS booth, where we saw amazing hair and product demonstrations on both relaxed and natural hair textures, there was also this really cool scalp scanning device that they used to assess the condition of people's scalp and hair folicles, to better recommend the products most beneficial to them. It was great learning a bit more about ORS and their line of haircare products. The "More Than Our Hair" panels were a highlight for me, hosted by beauty blogger Afrobella, moderated by Ebony Steele, and featured Dr. Hair, and celebrity hair stylist George R. Fuller. They talked about many topics regarding black hair, and how to take care of it (it whatever state it's in, whether natural or relaxed), and I loved that they did such a great job engaging their audience with thoughtful, and informative responses. I especially loved hearing from Afrobella, who is one of my favorite and most trusted beauty bloggers, she was able to answer many questions from women who were thinking of transitioning to their natural hair, to questions from those of us who are already natural just looking for ways to improve our regimens. The Secret of the ORS Nature's Secret Tour, by the way, is Olive Oil. I personally use Olive Oil on my hair for various treatments, so, it was great to see that a major haircare brand is incorporating it into their products as well. Obviously, it's better to use olive oil in its natural state, but, if you're not always up for raiding your kitchen cabinets for hair care, ORS does a great job of incorporating the conditioning ingredient into their products. Anna and I were able to meet Afrobella, who was one of the nicest people we had the pleasure of meeting. She was kind enough to take a quick picture with us, and invited us to stop by on Day Two to attend a Blogger's Brunch! We weren't planning on being there two days in a row, but, how can you say no to Afrobella? You can't. On Day Two, at the Blogger's Brunch, we were greeted with champagne and cupcakes, Afrobella hosted another panel/meet-and-greet, and then we headed over to the ORS Curls Unleashed station, where we got to participate in a private focus group for the revamping of their Curls Unleashed line of products—we got to sample different scents, textures, colors, and even chose between different imagery and typography for the packaging. Honestly, it was a pretty cool experience, it's funny how we all react differently to things different—even just between Anna and I, we had different opinions on smells, and colors, and design, I thought it was really interesting.Lastly, we joined up with the rest of the blogger group, including local beauty vloggers/bloggers Amanda of The Thrift Queen, and Deanna Bobbi of The Pretty Girl's Guide, and we all boarded the ORS Nature's Secret Tour Bus, for a Behind The Scenes tour of the beautiful bus that is traveling the country, giving out makeovers, and having great discussions about hair care! As you might expect, the bus was decorated in a very natural, olive tree theme—compared to the chaos that was happening inside of the hotel, it felt like a quiet retreat. On the bus, we got to hear a bit more about the tour itself: how it came to be, how they chose people to participate in their makeovers, and we talked about all of the cities they planned on heading to after DC. It was a chill moment where we all got to chat and, meet each other.Overall, Anna and I had a great time at the Ubiquitous Hair Show, and especially, with the awesome people at ORS. What I appreciated the most was the overall feeling of empowerment; yes, we were at a hair show, meant to sell products and so on—but, ORS did a great job of just informing people about their hair, whether you purchased something or not, from the scalp scans, to the makeovers, to the panel discussions, they made sure you left knowing something about your hair—they showed you ways of dealing with natural hair, and ways of dealing with relaxed hair, and never did it feel like they were saying one was better than the other, we all have our preferences, and you shouldn't feel judged for choosing one over the other. xx,

Tasha
