Review: Burst Oral Care Sonic Toothbrush

Burst Sonic Toothbrush

Believe it or not, I actually have never owned a sonic toothbrush before. I’ve had a few inexpensive spin brushes that were okay, but I never quite enjoyed using them and I felt like I did a better job cleaning my teeth manually.

Recently though, I feel like despite brushing twice a day and flossing, my teeth haven’t been feeling quite as clean or looking as white as I’d like them to be. I’m a huge coffee-drinker, and sweets addict, so I think my teeth just need a lot more TLC than what I can do manually.

I knew I wanted to switch to a sonic brush, and now that there are quite a few options on the market, especially from start-ups, I was trying to sort through the various brushes. I was browsing Instagram recently, and an ad featuring the Burst Oral Sonic toothbrush popped up. They showed an ear of corn with coffee between its kernels, to represent your teeth and plaque, and demonstrated the differences between a manual brush, spin brush, and the Burst sonic brush — the Burst brush was the clear winner, and I was sold then and there.

I ended up ordering one for myself and one for my boyfriend. We found a promo code via Twitter (there’s tons of them floating around), and bought them both for about the price of one!

After a couple of weeks of using this brush, I’m super glad I got it.

WHAT I THINK

I could not be happier so far with my Burst toothbrush. From the first use, I was immediately impressed with how clean and polished my teeth and gums were feeling.

I have tried out all three modes, and the most comfortable one for daily use has been the sensitive mode. I utilize the whitening mode once a week, for a deeper clean, but right now, it’s much too intense to use every single day.

The charcoal bristles feel really nice, they’re not too firm or too soft (I loathe soft bristles, and yes, I know they’re better for your teeth, but still)—I don’t know if the claim about the bristles absorbing impurities is true or not, but I do see a difference in the color of my teeth. I’m not sure if it’s just what can be expected from using a sonic brush, or if it is the bristles themselves, but there is a noticeable difference, even after switching to a new, wonderful whitening toothpaste—so, there’s that.

The device itself is gorgeous, and probably 80% of the reason I went with it over another brand. I love the minimalist design, but with a bit of an edgy twist. The geometric design on the handle not only looks great, but it makes it easier to grip the brush. This comes in white, but the black really spoke to me (and to my boyfriend, since he also got it in black), and I love how it looks on my vanity.

The fact that it cleans as great as it looks is really quite impressive—I love when I don’t have to choose between style and function.

YAY OR NAY?

I’m just going to cut to the chase, and give this my stamp of approval.

First of all, the quality of the device, and the clean it gives me are amazing. I thought I was doing a great job of cleaning my teeth before, and from the first use alone, it showed me that I really wasn’t.

I feel like this really helps to lift away stains from my daily cups of coffee, and I hope over time, the health of my teeth and gums continue to improve. I’ll definitely update this if I see any additional results!

Secondly, I really appreciate brands that find ways to make things that are typically pricey, more accessible to the masses. Priced at $70 for the brush, and $6 every 3-months for a new brush head, I think most people can afford this, and if you search social media for a Burst Ambassador, you can usually find a code to get yours for about $40—which feels like a complete steal!

Since this is my first sonic brush, I can’t compare it to anything else currently available, but based on how well it works for both myself and my boyfriend, I can confidently recommend it to anyone in the market for one.
