plaid11Today's look is basically my Summer uniform, but with a bit of a Rock and Roll edge. I'm wearing another pair of shorts that were given to me as pants, and ended up in shreds—at this rate, all of my denim is going to end up hacked to pieces before we make it to Autumn. Because the sun hasn't shined whatsoever today (overcast skies FTW), I thought this would be a good time to wear my grey flannel shirt and leather jacket (I've been in 90s grunge mode lately). To round it all off, I'm wearing a pair of silver studded heels, by Shoemint! I bought them almost two years ago for my birthday, and have only worn them one other time since then—today seemed like a good idea to break them out of shoe prison. plaid07plaid06plaid08plaid02plaid03plaid05plaid09plaid01plaid10plaid04I love combining menswear, with more feminine pieces, when I can—I love the slouchiness of the flannel, and the relaxed fit on these shorts; I paired it with these heels for a bit of visual interest, they're almost like jewelry on me feet, and then, I topped off this look with my leather jacket just to add more structure, and to blend everything together. I've definitely been in a monochromatic mood lately, I think it's fun to play around with one color/tone, to try and create something visually interesting. I'm such a minimalist at heart (which we all know by now), so I like seeing what I can accomplish with the least amount of fuss as possible—plus, being a shorter gal, I always felt like if I take things too far, I look too done up, or I look like my clothes are wearing me, and not the other way around.
