Review: Derma E Hydrating Serum with Hyaluronic Acid

Skincare junkie, checking in! I thought I'd share my thoughts with you today on a new serum that I've been trying out, by Derma E, called the Hydrating Serum with Hyaluronic Acid. I've only recently begun to incorporate products containing hyaluronic acid recently, and I've noticed big changes to my skin! I was not disappointed with this product whatsoever, and I'll tell you why after the jump. Hyaluronic acid sounds a lot scarier than it is, and I know a lot of people get weird when it comes to putting anything with the word 'acid' on their skin, but not all acids are harmful, I promise. Hyaluronic acid is actually something that our bodies produce naturally; babies produce high amounts of this, which is why their skin is so smooth and supple, and as we grow older, we produce less of this substance. Hyaluronic acid works to moisturize your skin by binding up to 1000 times its weight in water! Adding hyaluronic acid into your skincare/anti-aging routing is a must to give the appearance of healthy, younger-looking skin.

Derma E is a natural skincare brand that is cruelty-free, gluten-free, GMO-free, paraben-free, and Vegan. So, if you're after a brand that utilizes natural, and cruelty-free processes, this may be one to check out. This serum has been in my routine for just under a month, and I've already seen a great improvement with the texture of my skin. While this is formulated more for dry/normal skin, I had zero problems with it being greasy or oily on my combination skin. I actually found that this dried matte, making it perfect to wear underneath my makeup.

I thought it was interesting that this is labeled as a serum, yet, it comes out of the bottle looking and feeling more like a lotion. No complaints though, as the texture of the lotion was very soft, and creamy (not heavy though)! There is also a slight flowery fragrance, but nothing too powerful. As it dries, it does look quite matte, my pore size was visibly smaller, and overall, my skin just looked more plump and hydrated!

What it promises:

  • Delivers concentrated hydration
  • Smoothes fine lines and wrinkles

Cost: $29, available online or in-stores

Description: Hydrating serum is a concentrated treatment that plumps skin full of moisture and nutrients so it appears softer and smoother with fewer visible lines and wrinkles.

  • Hyaluronic Acid, a humectant that can hold up to 1,000 times its weight in water, delivers powerful hydration to keep skin soft, smooth and youthful looking.
  • Antioxidant Vitamin C plus amino acids Alanine, Leucine, Tyrosine, Glycine and Valine nourish skin to promote a healthy glowing appearance.

So, does this product do what it claims? I'd say yes, absolutely! On top of that, it's extremely gentle and hasn't irritated my skin one bit! Sensitive, acne-prone skin can be a [you-know-what] to deal with, and many new products can really make things worse before they get better. This fit right in with some of the other products already in my rotation, and did its job wonderfully. Definite repurchase for me, and I hope you guys try it out!
