I don't always wear color, but when I do, it's usually red. Red is a color that I used to stay away from, because I was never sure it would work on me. I was always felt like I had to avoid bright colors! So glad I stepped out of that box. Red can look great on everyone, and once I learned this, it was only a matter of time before I found myself snatching up lipsticks, purses, and clothing all in the fiery hue. I found these red Express trousers a few months ago, and they've been collecting dust in my closet ever since; I couldn't figure out what I wanted to wear them with, and I wasn't keen on pairing them with something white—I don't know about you, but, candy cane comes to mind, and I'm not trying to look like a human peppermint stick. However, I love black and red together, so this neoprene body suit from Forever 21 worked great with these pants. I loved the contrast of workwear and what looks like swimwear. The zipper and detailing on the body suit add some nice texture, and interest, and the pants keep the look polished. This Adidas jacket, from 2006, is one of my favorite things. I bought it when I was still in art school, when I wore a lot more color. It's been with me through trips abroad, many moves, and closet clean outs, and occasionally it still makes an appearance (usually around World Cup time), I can't let it go. It happened to be in my line of sight when I was trying on the scuba/trousers look, and when I put it on, I couldn't believe how exact the shades of red were in the jacket and pants. They looked like they belonged together. I love when outfits come together like that!
Anyway, I love a good monochrome look, and especially one in red—it's powerful, fun, and bold. In some cultures, red represents wealth, luck, and positive energy, I can certainly use all three of those things, so maybe I should think about wearing red more often.
