Rodarte SS19-Inspired Beauty Look

You ever watch a runway show, and just feel like it just speaks to you? Rodarte’s SS19 show was a masterclass in modern romanticism, and I was HERE. FOR. IT.

The beauty story for the show, i.e., the hair and makeup, was incredible. Each girl had bright eyeshadow, a bold red lip, and the most wonderful roses adorning their hair. The roses were probably my favorite part, they were placed in the hair so casually, and imperfectly, it almost felt like it was growing out of people’s hair—it was so very whimsical!

I really felt inspired by that look, but instead of doing it exactly as it was on the runway, I wanted to put my own little touch on it. While I loved the original matte primary colors on the eye, I wanted something a bit more festive, so I used my trusty PML Mothership V palette to create a shimmery monochromatic pink moment. I really loved the roses/flower crown situation, so I kept it as close as I could to the show—whatever happened to flower crowns, by the way? Can we please bring those back again?

Recreating makeup looks has been one of my most favorite things to do recently. I sometimes look around my makeup table and realize that I gravitate to the same products, or create the same looks, so I’m definitely going to set aside time for experimenting and allowing myself to deviate from the norm.

Do you guys experiment with your makeup? Where are your favorite places to get inspiration from?
